Successful Freshmen!

It’s been an awesome season for ILLINIhilation! Despite a very low number of members actively participating on the team, and major issues with some of the manipulator designs (which was eventually solved with cardboard and duct tape on the day before the competition), the ILLINIhilation freshman team was still able to be very successful at this year’s Jerry Sanders Design Competition. We finished the preliminary matches on Friday in 1st place, well above all of the other teams, and were also able to progress to the semi-finals during the elimination rounds, scoring only 5 points short of moving to the finals.

We are already eager for next season, with many ideas about improvements to our manipulators and launchers, as well as adding some extra “accessories” to our robot to make it even better. So look out for next year, where ILLINIhilation will ANNIHILATE even more teams and hopefully get into the finals!
