Over the past few weeks, Space Jam has been working on designing a robust gearbox to hold our bevel gear system (see image). One of the biggest issues we had last season was with our weapon motor protruding out the top of our robot. This made invertibility much more difficult to achieve. The whole idea behind our weapon system this time around is to be able to lay our motor sideways within our frame. This allows us to not only protect our motor and be invertible, but also lets us use a bigger motor.
In the coming weeks we plan on laying out our electronics in CAD, building a frame around the layout and purchasing/testing the bulk of our electronics. After that we can start thinking about waterjetting our frame.
