Legacy

The following teams were once prominent within iRobotics, but for one reason or another are no longer apart of iRobotics. This category denotes our experience with the teams and tips from previous iRobotics members.

MRDC

Midwestern Robotics Design Competition (MRDC) was the oldest student run robotics competition. iRobotics participated yearly with four teams denoted by year. A structure similar to the combat robotics teams. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic a competition has not been hosted since 2019 and thus lead to the removal of MRDC teams.

The Midwestern Robotics Design Competition is a yearly competition hosted at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. iRobotics fields four MRDC teams each year: freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior levels. The goal of the competition, and the physical arena itself, changes every year, but is the same basic principle: the teams build their robots to overcome certain obstacles and complete objectives for points.
