My First Part

For this section, we're going to make a part using simple extrusions and try and get more comfortable in the part environment.

Here's the drawing for our first part. Drawings are a great way to share designs, and are probably the most common way of sharing models and designs in Engineering.

Lets Get Started

1. Creating a Part

Parts can be created in Solidworks from the new file window. The new File Window opens when we start Solidworks, but can also be opened from file > new, CTRL+N, or Double Clicking on the Solidworks logo. We're gonna want to select New Part to enter the Part Environment.

2. First Extrusion
