"Freshman" Combots

"Freshman" Combots is the 30lb team for students who were freshmen in 2022.

Freshman Year 2022-2023

In their freshman year, the team developed and build a mecanum-drive hammer bot named CRACK V1. The robot featured independent drive modules powered by Scorpion HKII2221 motors attached to banebots gearboxes. The bot faced a number of setbacks that limited success including the following:

• Using poor quality wire which cracked in the cold weather and shorted the frame.
• 3dp motor covers which flexed into the outrunners and bound drive.
• Extremely limited electronics space which made battery changes and maintainence very difficult.
• Difficulties bending titanium which left portions of the bot unprotected from high reaching horizontal spinners.
• A lack of current limiting on escs which led to the weapon and portions of drive failing

Competition Statistics: Robobrawl 2023 - Tied for 17th place (0-2 record)

Sophomore Year 2023-2024

In their sophomore year, the team redesigned their bot from the previous year to build CRACK V2, utilizing primarily the same electronics, but a new chassis and a 3-sided titanium wedge.
