March has been a busy month for iRobotics Outreach!!
iRobotics members visited Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School and worked with an after-school science club on a packaging engineering activity. Students had to package a pair of saltine crackers using everyday supplies and test their packaging design with the U.S. Postal Service! Two of the students’ crackers returned to them unharmed!! Great job to everybody!!
iRobotics members also hosted an Engineering Merit Badge clinic for Boy Scouts. We talked to them about the rapid prototyping process as well as the structure and functionality of toasters. The Boy Scouts were able to take a part a toaster, working together just as different engineers work together in real life. Well done to everyone involved!!
iRobotics members also volunteered as judges for the RoboCross event at Science Olympiad – Middle School Division held at Parkland College. Middle School students all did a fantastic job and one team even got a perfect score!! We also demonstrated our Jerry Sanders – Midterminators robot (“Big Red”) and all the kids loved it!! Great job to all who participated in the event!!
iRobotics Outreach has more events coming up in April and May! Let’s finish the year strong!
